A special presentation of bikes to the
Kansas City Police Department and the Metro Police Department
was held on
Monday, October 24, 2005, at the Arbor
Villa Park, 66th Terrace and
Main St.
In
August 2005, Officers Danelle Williams and Brandon Harpold made
a request to the Community Police Action Cooperative (CPAC) for
new bikes for Metro Patrol. Within two months, over $6800 was
raised to purchase six bicycles, accessories for the bikes such
as sirens and lights, bike racks, and tools to maintain the
bikes. The donations raised came from individuals, neighborhood
associations, and businesses throughout the communities of
Brookside, Waldo, and Southtown. Major contributors included
the Armour Hills Homes Association, Bank of America, BKS Real
Estate, Cosentino's, Dr. Patricia Stewart, DVM, Baptist-Lutheran
Medical Center, Morningside Neighborhood Association.
On
September 17, 2005, the first annual Falldo Waldo Crawldo pub
crawl was held, thanks to the event coordination by
Chris
Lewellen of Lew's Grill and Bar, along with 75th
Street Brewery, Bobby Baker's Lounge, Kennedy's, Tanner's Bar
and Grill, the Waldo Bar, and Coors Light and Captain Morgan,
the remaining balance needed to purchase the bicycles was
raised.
